In our ever-more polarized and furious world, it is important to look for opportunities to bridge the gaps between us, and to reach out those we may oppose in search of common cause and fellowship. Kudos to Jimmy Butler for making that figurative prompt literal during the Chicago Bulls’ Monday night meeting with the Detroit Pistons:

Unfortunately for your man Jimmy Buckets, Marcus Morris was not very interested in getting his “Hands Across America” on with the opposition after missing a freebie in the heat of battle. Oh, well. One man practicing sportsmanship is far better than a hundred teaching it, Jimmy. Knute Rockne said that, and he helped popularize the forward pass, so, y’know, he knew how important it was to go try new things to cover great distances.
