North Carolina Central 69, Morgan State 61

Senior guard Ray Willis scored 19 points to help North Carolina Central remain unbeaten in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference with a 69-61 victory over Morgan State on Monday at McDougald-McLendon Gymnasium in Durham, N.C.

The Eagles (13-7, 6-0 MEAC) earned their seventh win in a row.

Junior forward Stanton Kidd had 13 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore forward Jay Copeland added 10 points for the Eagles.

Senior guard Anthony Hubbard and junior swingman Justin Black scored 20 points apiece for the Bears (6-11, 3-3).

Morgan State held a 17-14 lead with less than 12 minutes to play in the opening half, but North Carolina Central took control with a 12-2 run over the next four minutes. The Bears mounted an 8-2 run to close the half, giving them a 42-31 lead at the break.

Hubbard scored 10 of his team's 13 points over a seven-minute stretch to lead the Bears back in the second period. Morgan State cut the lead to three on a couple of occasions midway through the half and again with 1:34 to play, but the Eagles held on for the win.
