Dec 30 (The Sports Xchange) - The Florida Panthers placed forward Aleksander Barkov on injured reserve Friday with an undisclosed injury. The Panthers star center will be out two to three weeks, coach Tom Rowe said after Thursday night's 3-2 overtime loss to the Montreal Canadiens. Barkov, 21, left in the second period of a 3-2 shootout loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday. He was hit in the side by a slap shot from teammate Keith Yandle, but Rowe said the injury was not to Barkov's ribs. -- The Winnipeg Jets placed forward Marko Dano on injured reserve with a lower-body injury. Dano crashed into the boards and had to be helped off the ice during the Jets' 5-3 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday. He was unable to put any weight on his left leg. Dano, 22, who is expected to miss significant time, has three goals, seven assists and eight penalty minutes in 28 games this season. -- The Edmonton Oilers signed forward Tyler Benson to a three-year entry-level contract. Benson, 18, has played in 31 games with the Western Hockey League's Vancouver Giants this season, registering 40 points (10 goals, 30 assists) and 27 penalty minutes. -- The Buffalo Sabres recalled forward Justin Bailey from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League. Bailey, 21, joins the Sabres for his second recall of the season after appearing in two games with the team in November and averaging 7:44 of time on ice. -- The Tampa Bay Lightning reassigned forward Erik Condra to the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League. Condra, 30, played in seven games with the Lightning this season, recording two penalty minutes. The forward has appeared in 360 career NHL games, registering 39 goals and 98 points to go along with 172 penalty minutes. (Editing by Larry Fine) ))
