NFL-National Football League roundup

Feb 1 (The Sports Xchange) - The Cleveland Browns hired Kyle Shanahan as offensive coordinator, Fox Sports reported Saturday. Shanahan most recently served in the same role with the Washington Redskins until he was fired at the end of the season, along with his father, Mike Shanahan, who was the head coach. Kyle Shanahan found success as the Houston Texans' offensive coordinator in 2008-09 but had mixed results with the Redskins during the last four seasons. He was a candidate for other openings, including the Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins. The Browns recently hired Mike Pettine as head coach to replace Rob Chudzinski, who was fired after one season. - - - Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is a headache in the locker room, according to NFL Network analyst Heath Evans. The former NFL fullback told radio station Detroit Sports 105.1 FM that three Lions players told him this season that Suh was difficult. Evans said Suh was a problem because he did whatever he wanted. There have been reports that the Lions may try to lock Suh into a salary cap-friendly long-term deal. He is due to count $22.4 million against the cap this year. - - - The Kansas City Chiefs are close to signing former Canadian Football League wide receiver Weston Dressler, according to multiple reports. Dressler starred for the Saskatchewan Roughriders last year. The 28-year-old made 70 catches for 1,011 yards with nine touchdowns as the Roughriders won the Grey Cup. The 5-foot-7, 179-pounder out of North Dakota has more than 1,000 yards receiving in five of six seasons in the CFL. Saskatchewan released Dressler this week so he could pursue a career in the NFL.
