Nets F Wallace out with sprained ankle
Brooklyn Nets small forward Gerald Wallace is out for Monday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves because of a sprained left ankle, according to ESPN New York.
Nets coach Avery Johnson said Wallace is considered day to day.
"He's just gonna continue to get treatment on his ankle," Johnson said. "Obviously, his X-rays were negative, and that was great. So (trainer) Tim (Walsh) is gonna continue to treat him. He's feeling a little bit better, but not good enough to play tonight."
It is not known if Wallace will be able to play Wednesday against the Miami Heat.
"What we're hoping for is he gets well, and when he's ready to come back, we'll get him back out there," Johnson said.
Keith Bogans will start in Wallace's place.
Bogans has started 310 games in his career, including all 82 games with the Chicago Bulls in 2010-11. He started one game for the Nets last season.
Bogans will be on a minutes limit because of knee and tailbone injuries he sustained in the preseason.
Wallace injured his ankle in the final minute of Saturday's 107-100 victory over the Toronto Raptors when he tried to block a layup attempt by point guard Kyle Lowry.
Wallace landed on Lowry's foot and fell awkwardly. He limped to the locker room and received X-rays.
He scored 10 points with six rebounds and four assists in the game.
Also, backup forward Josh Childress will miss his second straight game because of a sprained left ankle.
