NBA Roundup: Oden draws lots of interest, Warriors waive three
Center Greg Oden worked out in front of representatives from the Miami Heat, Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans for two hours on Tuesday in Indianapolis, according to an ESPN report.
Oden, a former top pick in the NBA Draft by the Portland Trail Blazers, is attempting to make a comeback after injuries derailed his career after just 82 games.
Among those who watched Oden's workout were Heat coach Erik Spoelstra and Kings general manager Pete D'Alessandro, ESPN reported.
He reportedly will work out on Thursday for the Atlanta Hawks and meet with the Pelicans later this week. The San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks also appear to be interested in the 7-footer, an Indianapolis native who played one season at Ohio State.
The 25-year-old has not played in an NBA game since Dec. 5, 2009, because of knee problems. He underwent a third microfracture surgery in 2012.
---The Golden State Warriors waived forward/center Dwayne Jones, guard Scott Machado and guard Kevin Murphy.
Jones was signed on the final day of the regular season and appeared in two playoff games for the Warriors after playing in 21 games for the Texas Legends of the NBA Development League, averaging 8.8 points, 12.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists per contests.
Machado signed with the Warriors on April 7 and saw brief action in five playoff games. He also played in six games for the Houston Rockets last season.
Murphy was acquired from the Utah Jazz as part of a three-team trade on July 10 in which Golden State also landed Andre Iguodala from the Denver Nuggets. As a rookie last season with the Jazz, Murphy appeared in 17 games and averaged 0.9 points in 3.1 minutes per contest.
