NBA roundup: Bobcats coach Clifford hopitalized

Charlotte Bobcats head coach Steve Clifford was hospitalized Thursday night and had two stents placed in his heart, the team announced Friday.

Clifford will not be available for the Bobcats home game against the Knicks on Friday night.

The team released a statement, which read, "While at dinner [Thursday] night, Bobcats Head Coach Steve Clifford suffered chest pains. He went to the hospital and was later admitted. After testing this morning, doctors concluded that a procedure was necessary to place two stents in his heart. He is resting comfortably and is expected to re-join the team soon."

The Bobcats (3-2) host the New York Knicks Friday night. Assistant Patrick Ewing will likely take Clifford's place.

---Dallas Mavericks guard/forward Vince Carter was suspended one game without pay for throwing an elbow and making contact with the head of Oklahoma City Thunder center Steven Adams, the NBA announced.

Carter will serve his suspension Friday night when the Mavericks visit the Minnesota Timberwolves.

---Houston Rockets guard James Harden is listed as day-to-day because of a bruised foot, the Houston Chronicle reported.

The Rockets play the Clippers on Saturday.

Harden is averaging 26.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.2 steals in six games this season.
