Cy Young Award–winning pitcher Max Scherzer is looking to ace the Arizona real estate market. The Washington Nationals star right-hander and his wife, Erica, have put their modern penthouse in Scottsdale, AZ, on the market for $2,225,000. The couple purchased the unit in January 2013 for $1,399,000, according to public record.

Arizona may have a special place in the four-time All-Star’s heart. It’s where he began his professional career, after being drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2006.

And although he was traded to the Detroit Tigers in 2009—where he won the 2013 Cy Young Award—he and his wife were married in 2013 in Scottsdale. They even spent part of their honeymoon in the desert, before traveling to New Zealand and Fiji.

Now they hope to score a sizable profit with the sale of their three-bedroom, three-bathroom, 3,354-square-foot penthouse. Among its more striking features are the four covered patios with lush landscaping and cooling misters that allow comfortable views of both the city lights and the mountains on hot desert nights.

The 32-year-old pitcher has substantial freedom to play the real estate market if he so chooses. In 2015, the ace signed a seven-year, $210 million contract (with a $50 million signing bonus) with the Nationals.
