Nationals activate Morse for season debut

Washington Nationals outfielder Michael Morse has been activated from the 15-day disabled list, the team announced Friday.

To make room on the roster, the Nationals optioned outfielder Corey Brown to Class AAA Syracuse.

Morse, 30, has missed the Nationals' first 50 games with latissimus dorsi strain. He batted .381 with one homer and five RBIs in seven minor-league games during his rehabilitation assignment.

Last season, Morse was the Nationals' leader in batting (.303), doubles (36), home runs (31) and RBIs (95).

Brown, 26, went hitless in three games this season.
