Myles Jury Drops to Featherweight, Faces Charles Oliveira at UFC on Fox 17

The UFC's 145-pound division just got a little bit deeper. Top ten-ranked lightweight Myles Jury (15-1) will make his featherweight debut against Charles Oliveira (20-5, 1 NC) on the UFC on Fox 17 fight card on Dec. 19. The announcement came on this week's edition of UFC Tonight.

The decision to drop down from the 155-pound weight class comes after Jury's first career loss, a unanimous decision defeat to Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone at UFC 182 in January. Currently ranked ninth in the lightweight division, Jury started his career with a 15-fight winning streak. He holds wins over Michael Johnson, Diego Sanchez and Takanori Gomi. He'll have the opportunity to jump into the featherweight top ten ranks if he's able to get back the seventh-ranked Oliveira in December.

Oliveira had a four-fight winning streak snapped in his last outing at UFC Fight Night 74 in August, losing to fifth-ranked Max Holloway due to a neck injury. The Brazilian earned three Performance of the Night bonuses in his four previous bouts, including banking two bonuses for his UFC Fight Night 67 submission win over Nik Lentz in May. Oliveira hopes to rebound by spoiling Jury's featherweight debut.
