Milwaukee Bucks name 'Mike McCarthy' to front office, Packers fans have all the jokes
This is just too perfect. The Milwaukee Bucks had to know the timing (and, heck, the geography) of naming a man named Mike McCarthy as its new chief operating officer might have a little reaction among some Wisconsinites.
Here was the original tweet announcing the hire:

And yes, the responses from Green Bay Packers fans — watching their team melt this season — were pretty great. (A different man named) Mike McCarthy has become the subject of ire and consternation as the Packers have fallen to 4-6 with little hope of things turning around soon. Now some poor guy trying to run an NBA team books with the same name and in the same state is going to hear some gallows humor about this.

For what it’s worth, the NBA McCarthy sounds like a pretty accomplished cat. But yeah, that might go overlooked initially given he’s the namesake to a football coach with a low Q rating currently.

@Bucks Nice, it was about time for the Packers to let him go

@Bucks so you guys will now take stupid timeouts and not adjust gameplans?

@Bucks …..wait

And we love that there was actual confusion from one fan who thought that Mike McCarthy, Super Bowl-winning coach, might actually flee Green Bay for the NBA.
@yjeong57 @Bucks it's not the packers coach

Stay wonderful, Packers fans.
