Miami-Ohio 82, Illinois-Chicago 70

Will Sullivan led a balanced attack with 16 points as Miami-Ohio beat Illinois-Chicago 82-70 in a non-conference clash on Saturday at Millett Hall in Oxford, Ohio.

Will Felder and John Harris had 14 apiece while Reggie Johnson added 12 as the Redhawks (4-6) snapped a four-game losing streak.

The Flames (9-3) lost their second straight despite having five players in double figures. Gary Talton led with 15 points, Daniel Barnes had 14, Joey Miller scored 11 and Hayden Humes and Josh Crittle each added 10.

The Flames led briefly at the outset. The Redhawks, meanwhile, used a 9-0 run to turn an 11-9 advantage into a double-digit edge at 20-9 and extended the lead to 32-18 with 5:02 left in the opening half.

Illinois-Chicago trimmed the deficit to single digits at 36-28 on a Humes jumper with 34 seconds showing. But Felder's buzzer-beating 3-pointer pushed Miami's lead to 39-28 at halftime.

The Flames never got closer than seven points in the second half.

UIC travels to Toledo next Saturday and opens Horizon League play on Jan. 2 at home against Youngstown State. Miami hosts Wilmington next Sunday.
