Marlins' Oviedo suspended 8 weeks
Miami Marlins reliever Juan Carlos Oviedo received an eight-week suspension Monday from Major League Baseball for age and identity fraud.
The suspension runs through July 22. He is eligible for extended spring training during the suspension period and for a rehab assighnment no longer than 16 days.

Formerly identified as Leo Nunez, Oviedo reported to the team's training complex in Jupiter, Fla., and underwent a physical on Monday after spending nearly eight months in the Dominican Republic dealing with legal issues resulting from his identity issues.
Oviedo posted 92 saves in 117 chances as the team's closer in 2009-11 playing under the false name of Leo Nunez. Late last season, after he had 36 saves in 42 opportunities, he was placed on the restricted list and returned to the Dominican Republic.
---The A's Manny Ramirez is eligible to return to the Major Leagues on Wednesday after being suspended for 50 games for a failed drug test, but it's not certain the A's will activate him Wednesday.
A's manager Bob Melvin told reporters Tuesday there is a "50-50" chance Ramirez will be activated Wednesday.
Ramirez turns 40 on Wednesday and has been playing with the A's Triple-A club in Sacramento in recent days.
He is 6-for-28 (.214) with no extra-base hit in eight games for Sacramento. He was scheduled to start Monday's game r singles. He is expected to start Monday's game for Sacramento, but the A's has not determined what Ramirez will do Tuesday.
Melvin said he's like to see Ramirez swinging the bat better before adding him to the A's roster, but he also noted that the team needs some offensive punch.
----San Diego Padres outfielder Carlos Quentin was activated from the 15-day disabled list before Monday's game against the Chicago Cubs.
The 29-year-old outfielder, acquired in the offseason, hadn't played for the Padres since undergoing knee surgery in spring training. The San Diego native hit .254 with 24 home runs last season for the Chicago White Sox.
In a nine-game rehab stint in the minor leagues, Quentin hit .357 with two home runs.
--- Roy Halladay's sore right shoulder is scheduled to undergo an examination Tuesday.
The Philadelphia Phillies are worried about the health of the veteran pitcher.
"Anytime you have an injury, you have a concern, no matter who it is," Phillies assistant general manager Scott Proefrock said Monday. "We've been through these things before. [Vance] Worley, [Roy] Oswalt last year. We're fortunate we have Kyle [Kendrick] in the role he is in. Hopefully, Vance is close to coming off the DL, so we'll be covered again."
Worley was placed on the disabled list May 12 with inflammation in his right elbow.
---The Oakland Athletics activated third baseman Brandon Inge from the 15-day disabled list Monday.
When Inge was placed on the DL, retroactive to May 13, with a strained right groin, he was hitting .227 with four homers and 17 RBI in 11 starts for the A's.
-- The Pittsburgh Pirates placed right-handed reliever Juan Cruz on the restricted list to allow him to return home to the Dominican Republic to attend to personal business.
To replace Cruz, the Pirates called up left-hander Doug Slaten from Triple-A Indianapolis.
The veteran Cruz was 1-1 with a 1.45 ERA in 20 outings. Slaten was 2-0 with a 0.36 ERA and eight saves in 20 games for Indianapolis.
---The Chicago Cubs activated reliever Carlos Marmol before Monday's game against the San Diego Padres and sent reliever Rafael Dolis to the minor leagues.
The move came one day after Dolis was moved out of the closer's role, the Chicago Tribune reported. He had struggled in his last two outings.
Dolis is 2-4 with a 5.68 ERA and four saves and two blown save chances for the struggling Cubs.
Marmol returned earlier than anticipated. He was placed on the DL on May 12 because of a strained right hamstring.
---The Cleveland Indians activated starting pitcher Josh Tomlin from the disabled list Monday and recalled third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall from Triple-A Columbus.
Chisenhall was called up after the Indians placed third baseman Jack Hannahan on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left calf. Hannahan was hitting .276 with three homers and 18 RBI.
Tomlin had been sidelined since May 8 with tendinitis in his right wrist.
Cleveland also made another roster move, designating right-hander Jairo Asencio for assignment to clear roster space for Tomlin.
--- Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Ted Lilly was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Monday because of shoulder inflammation.
The move is retroactive to last Thursday, because Lilly last pitched on Wednesday.
Lilly is eligible to return June 8 at Seattle, and he is tentatively scheduled to start that game.
The Dodgers called up left-hander Michael Antonini from Triple-A Albuquerque. However, Nathan Eovaldi could be called up from Double-A Chattanooga to start Tuesday's game.
Lilly is 5-1 record with a 3.14 ERA for the season.
---The Baltimore Orioles reinstated infielder Mark Reynolds from the disabled list and placed right-handed pitcher Stu Pomeranz on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 26, with a left oblique injury.
Reynold had been on the DL since May 11 with a strained left oblique. He is batting .191 with two home runs.
---The San Diego Padres claimed right-handed pitcher Neil Wagner off waivers from the Oakland A's, and they optioned him to Triple-A Tucson. The Padres also transferred infielder/outfielder James Darnell to the 60-day disabled list.
---The Boston Red Sox activated outfielder Ryan Sweeney from the seven-day concussion disabled list and optioned outfielder Che-Hsuan Lin to Triple-A Pawtucket. Sweeney is hitting .311.
---The Colorado Rockies recalled right-handed pitcher Carlos Torres from Triple-A Colorado Springs. Torres allowed just one run on two hits and two walks with three strikeouts in his three appearances with Colorado earlier this month.
---The Washington Nationals today selected outfielder Corey Brown from Syracuse of the Triple-A International League and placed infielder Chad Tracy on the 15-Day disabled list, retroactive to May 27, with a right adductor strain. The Nationals also transferred outfielder Jayson Werth to the 60-Day DL.
The Nationals also optioned infielder Tyler Moore to Syracuse of the Triple-A International League.
