Magic 92, Bobcats 83
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Forward Glen Davis and guard Jameer Nelson led a balanced attack with 17 points each and the Orlando Magic snapped a six-game losing streak with a 92-83 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday night.
Five other players scored in double figures as the Magic ended up a six-game road trip on a high note and raised their record to 7-15.
Nelson came up big down the stretch, scoring seven of the Magic's final nine points. His 3-pointer with 1:06 remaining pushed a four-point lead to seven, and then he hit a driving layup on Orlando's next possession with 42 seconds left.
The Magic also got 16 points from forward Arron Affalo, 12 points and 14 rebounds from center Nikola Vucevic, and 10 points each from guard Victor Olapido, guard E'Twaun Moore and forward Andrew Nicholson. Vucevic returned after missing four games with an ankle injury.
Charlotte fell to 10-12 and had a two-game winning streak snapped.
The Bobcats shot just 36.9 percent from the field, with guard Kemba Walker going 4 of 18 and guard Gerald Henderson going 3 of 14.
Henderson led the Bobcats with 12 points. Forward Josh McRoberts scored 11, and center Al Jefferson had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
The Bobcats led 18-16 after one quarter, but Orlando led 43-42 at halftime and 67-62 after three quarters.
NOTES: The Bobcats made a roster move Wednesday, signing G Chris Douglas-Roberts and waiving F James Southerland. Douglas-Roberts was in the NBA Development League with Texas this season, but the four-year veteran had previous stints with the New Jersey Nets, Milwaukee Bucks and Dallas Mavericks. Southerland, an undrafted rookie, appeared in just one game for the Bobcats. ... The Bobcats were without C Bismack Biyombo (ankle), F Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (hand) and C Brendan Haywood (foot). ... The Magic closed out a six-game road trip. They were 1-10 on the road coming into Wednesday's game. Orlando returns home to face the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday. ... The Bobcats wound up a three-game homestand. They hit the road to play the Indiana Pacers on Friday. ... The Bobcats will unveil the new Hornets logo at halftime of their Dec. 21 home game against Utah. Owner Michael Jordan will do the honors. The club already announced that the colors will be teal, purple and light blue.
