LB Banks to participate in 49ers' rookie minicamp

Brian Banks' workout tour continues this week in San Francisco.

The 26-year-old inside linebacker is participating in a three-day rookie minicamp with the 49ers.

Banks, who was exonerated last month when the alleged victim recanted 10 years after he was convicted, has also worked out for the Seahawks, Chiefs and Chargers.

He's 6-2 1/2, 240 pounds and can play either inside linebacker or outside linebacker depending on the scheme. In the 4-3 defense, the Seahawks viewed Banks as a middle linebacker.

Banks had been offered a scholarship by USC, but the rape conviction when he was in high school forced his incarceration. He then played one season of football at Long Beach City College after his release in 2007, but he was forced to wear a tracking device, which ended his football career until his conviction was overturned last month.

Since he was cleared on May 24, Banks began working out in Orange County and said he's in good shape, but the Seahawks didn't feel he was in football condition yet. The Chiefs, per Sports Illustrated's Peter King, timed Banks at 4.77 in the 40.
