Lakers' Blake out 3 weeks with foot injury

Lakers backup point guard Steve Blake won't be able to participate in impact exercises for about three weeks after he sustained a puncture wound on his left foot from stepping on a spike strip at a parking lot, the Los Angeles Times reported Monday.

Blake averaged 5.2 points in 53 games with the Lakers last season. He may be challenged for playing time this season by Chris Duhon, who was acquired in the Dwight Howard trade.

Blake, 32, has two more years remaining on his contract.

The Lakers begin exhibition play Oct. 7.
