Just Because: The 2007 Raiders have some season tickets to sell you

In some of the least surprising news of Sunday, the Raiders  traveled to New York on Sunday and got stopped by the Jets. As you probably are aware, Oakland has one of the least-talented rosters in the NFL this year, and the seats upon which coach Dennis Allen and general manager Reggie McKenzie reside will begin to heat up as the weather grows colder.

Combine that with the intense flirting that's happening between the team and the city of San Antonio, and you can understand why Raiders fans might be feeling morose about the squad's future prospects.

Thus, in an effort to take your mind off the madness for 30 seconds, let's return to a more optimistic time, a year in which our innocence and naiveté could push out the perpetual negativity that seemingly always clouds our minds.

When new coach Lane Kiffin was going to turn around a team that had gone 2-14 the year before, when No. 1 overall draft pick JaMarcus Russell was going to be even better than Ken Stabler, when Josh McCown was but a 28-year-old pup.

It was a time for the 2007 Raiders -- featuring Robert Gallery, Nnamdi Asomugha and Hall of Famer Warren Sapp -- when they were going to return Oakland to its glory days. That was the point, I suppose, of this nice little video advertisement where Asomugha promised that everything "was going to be nice."

The end result: the 2007 Raiders were twice as successful as the 2006 squad. Unfortunately for the team, though, that meant a 4-12 record.
