Joe Rogan Asks UFC to Open Women's 145-Pound Division for Cris Cyborg
As Cris Cyborg steamrolled through another opponent at UFC Brasilia in her run as the most dominant female fighter on the planet, some may have forgotten that in order for her to fight in the UFC she has to make a miserable weight-cut to a 140-pound catchweight.
UFC commentator Joe Rogan, however, did NOT forget it all.
Openly opposed to difficult weight-cutting, Rogan took to Twitter following Cyborg's defeat of Lina Lansberg on Saturday and directly tweeted at the UFC to open up a women's featherweight division so that the natural 145-pound fighter doesn't have to make a cut to a catchweight.
.@ufc please open up a 145lbs division for @criscyborg. Her torturing herself to make 140 is insane and she's incredibly entertaining.

Women's MMA is growing in leaps and bounds and it would be amazing if there were more weight classes.

I think that if the @UFC opened up more WMMA divisions the level of talent in each division would grow like it has in new men's divisions.

The level of talent in each division seems to rise to the standard of the champion. @criscyborg is a killer and would be a fierce champion.

Obviously this is all just my opinion. @UFC is awesome and it'll all get sorted out eventually. I just had to chirp. I hate hard weight cuts

Cyborg has documented each of her weight-cuts leading up to her two UFC bouts. Each one has shown an incredible amount of struggle by the fighter attempting to shed weight, complete with tears that leave a reasonable fan uncomfortable in watching.
Whether or not the UFC will listen to people with the influence of Rogan, however, is very much up in the air.
