Joe Johnson scores 27, Nets pull out the close victory against Nuggets

Mason Plumlee registered his fifth double-double this season, scoring 19 points and registering 13 rebounds, to help the Brooklyn Nets edge the Denver Nuggets, 102-96. The Nets played an efficient game offensively, shooting 43-91 (47.3%) from the field and turning it over just nine times. Brooklyn (12-15) has now won back-to-back games after defeating Detroit Pistons on Sunday.

Plumlee went 9-14, in what was an efficient performance. Jarrett Jack also contributed for Brooklyn, finishing with 17 points and eight assists. Ty Lawson had another strong performance for Denver despite the loss, putting up 29 points on 10-20 shooting (4-8 on 3-point attempts), in addition to going 5-6 from the free throw line. He also added nine assists. Kenneth Faried added 20 points and 14 rebounds and Arron Afflalo finished with 11 points and nine rebounds.

The Nuggets dished out 15 assists versus 18 turnovers, a ratio of just .83. They are 1-5 on the season when committing more errors than assists in a game. The Nets, on the other hand, are undefeated (3-0) when forcing opponents beneath 1.00 in assist-to-turnover ratio.

Denver (12-17) has now lost back-to-back games after falling to Charlotte on Monday.

Coming up next, the Nets square off against the Boston Celtics, who are 10-16 on the year. The Nuggets meet the Minnesota Timberwolves, currently 5-22 this season. The Nets have a 0-1 record against Boston this season.
