Jazz 140, Raptors 133 (3 OT)

TORONTO -- Al Jefferson tied the game with a rare 3-pointer in the final seconds of regulation, and the Utah Jazz went on to defeat the Toronto Raptors 140-133 in triple overtime Monday before 18,230 at Air Canada Centre.

Jefferson was 1-for-25 on 3-pointers in his career entering the game.

Paul Millsap hit a 3-pointer to give Utah a 134-130 lead with 2:15 to play in the final overtime, and Gordon Hayward's driving layup extended the advantage to six points with 1:33 left. Jefferson's jumper in the final minute put the game away.

Millsap led Utah with 34 points, while Jefferson had 24 and Randy Foye 20.

DeMar DeRozan topped the Raptors with 37 points, while Jose Calderon and Linas Kleiza had 20 each and Andrea Bargnani scored 19.

Millsap scored Utah's first six points of the second overtime, including a 3-pointer that put the Jazz ahead 121-118.

After DeRozan cut the lead to one with 1:47 to play in the second overtime, Mo Williams restored the three-point edge before DeRozan hit two free throws to make it a one-point game with 12 seconds remaining.

Williams made two free throws with 11 seconds to play, and Utah (4-4) led by three. However, Toronto's John Lucas tied the game again with 7.5 seconds left on a 3-pointer, and when Williams was stopped driving for the basket, the game went to a third overtime. It was the first triple overtime at home for the Raptors since 2001 against Sacramento.

Bargnani made two free throws with 52 seconds left in the first overtime to tie the game 113-113.

After a turnover by Utah, DeRozan made a driving slam dunk with 23 seconds to play in the initial overtime to put the Raptors ahead 115-113. On the next Utah possession, Jefferson tied it on a hook shot with 19 seconds to play.

Toronto (1-6) had a chance, but DeRozan missed a shot at the buzzer to force a second overtime.

The Jazz trailed by five points entering the fourth quarter, but Utah was down by 11 with seven minutes to play after a hook shot by Raptors reserve Amir Johnson.

After DeRozan was stripped of the ball on a drive to the hoop, Utah came back with a 3-pointer from Hayward to cut the lead to seven with 5:12 to play.

Derrick Favors cashed in on his own steal to cut Toronto's lead to four points entering the final three minutes.

DeRozan hit one of two free throws with 2:40 to play and Toronto led by five.

Utah had a chance in the final two minutes on another steal by Favors, but Williams couldn't make his layup. Bargnani missed for Toronto. Millsap made two free throws to cut the lead to three, but Calderon responded with a driving layup to return the lead to five.

Williams hit an 18-foot pull-up jumper with 1:05 left, and Toronto's lead was down to 102-99.

The Jazz pulled to within one point with 33 seconds left when Millsap made layup after Utah forced a turnover from the Raptors at the other end.

Johnson had the Raptors on top by three with a tip shot with 16 seconds left.

Williams missed a 3-point attempt, but the Jazz regained possession, and Jefferson tied the game with his trey with three seconds left. Favors blocked Terrence Ross' 20-foot jumper to send the game to overtime.

After taking a five-point lead into the second half, the Raptors opened it a notch to seven but couldn't shake Utah, which whittled the advantage to three points with three minutes to play in the third quarter. Kleiza hit a 3-pointer with 1:51 to play in the quarter to increase the Raptors' lead to 83-75. They were his first points of the second half after he scored 17 in the second quarter. The Jazz played the Raptors even in the third, 30-30.
