Jaguars' Blackmon avoids jail time with plea deal

Jacksonville Jaguars first-round draft pick Justin Blackmon avoided jail time by reaching a plea agreement in his aggravated DUI case in Stillwater, Okla.

Blackmon has not yet signed his rookie contract with the Jaguars and the team is expected to push for language clearing the team of financial obligation if Blackmon runs afoul of the law. He was also cited for DUI in 2010 after attending a Dallas Cowboys game.

By pleading guilty to the charges stemming from his June 3 arrest, Blackmon can avoid a jail sentence but agreed to a one-year deferred sentence that will be waived if he fulfills all terms of the agreement. In addition to 50 hours community service and a fine of less than $1,000, Blackmon must enter the NFL's substance-abuse program.

Blackmon pleaded not guilty in his initial appearance despite two blood alcohol tests which registered at .24 and .26. The legal limit in Oklahoma is .08 percent.

Police said Blackmon was cited for driving 60 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone when he was stopped.
