The 30-9 Baltimore Ravens win over the Detroit Lions on Saturday is the very definition of bittersweet.

The sweet: young players continue to make outstanding plays, like DB Anthony Levine, WR Jeremy Butler, and LB Matt Judon.

The bitter: TE Benjamin Watson is reportedly lost for the season with an Achilles tendon tear. RB Kenneth Dixon, with a very promising first half of 41 yards on 6 carries (6.8 yards per carry average) and a promising preseason in general, has a reported sprained knee and will miss time.

In a game that was definitely a preseason game with regards to sloppiness on both teams and on the referee team as well, the Ravens steadily denied and supplied on Defense and Offense respectively, for the win.

GAME POINTS:

Flacco was back and had a solid outing.

So was Terrell Suggs, and he looked strong.

Anthony Levine had quite a night. 1 Interception which led to a score, 1 sack, 1 pass defensed, 1 tackle for loss; he led the team in tackles for the second week.

Jeremy Butler was the offensive MVP. He had a beautiful, diving catch of a 25 yard rainbow from Ryan Mallett for a TD, along with 3 other receptions for a total of 43 yards. He was the leading receiver on the team for the night and caught all of his targets.

Matt Judon had a sack and a TFL for the third game in a row. The man lives in the backfields of opponents. His college career is appearing to be no fluke.

Kenneth Dixon looked very good before having to leave the game. His 17 yard run was the long for the night for Baltimore, and he picked up positive yards consistently.

Ryan Mallett scored 2 TDs (1 pass/1 run) and seems to be answering the call of a backup QB competition. He was the team’s leading passer for the night.

Josh Johnson led the team on a touchdown drive when he entered the game in the 4th quarter. He has done this multiple times in the 2016 preseason.

TE Daniel Brown had 1 reception which gained 6 yards but netted 21 when he effortlessly absorbed a penalized out-of-bounds late hit after the play. He is now the defacto starting TE, when considering injuries and suspensions.
