Giants sign LB Connor

Linebacker Dan Connor signed a one-year contract with the New York Giants, the team announced on Saturday.

Connor was recently released by the Dallas Cowboys in a move to help get under the salary cap.

Connor started eight games in 2012 when the Cowboys were depleted at inside linebacker by injuries to Sean Lee and Bruce Carter, among others. He is a versatile linebacker who can play all three positions in a 4-3 scheme and adds value as a special teams player.

He had 56 tackles last year.

Connor will compete for the starting middle linebacker job.
