Giants to keep training camp in Albany

The New York Giants will return to Albany, N.Y., for training camp to prepare for the 2013 season.

The Giants told University at Albany athletic director Lee McElroy and Albany mayor Jerry Jennings of their intentions to hold their preseason workouts at the Timex Performance Center. The team has gone to Albany 16 of the past 17 years and used the Timex Center in 2011, when it won Super Bowl XLVI.

"The University at Albany and the Capital Region have been great hosts for us during our training camps," Giants president and CEO John Mara and chairman and executive vice president Steve Tisch said in a joint statement. "UAlbany truly has been the summer home of the Giants."

The Giants started coming to Albany in 1996.

"It has been a tremendous experience for our city to have the Giants here," Jennings said. "We value our relationship with John Mara and Steve Tisch and their organization, and I have told them they are always welcome. This is Giants country, and we wish them nothing but the best."
