Gary Sanchez is so awesome that a fan poured beer on his own head

Gary Sanchez, the New York Yankees’ phenom rookie catcher, has been tearing it up since he was called up in early August. He’s helping lead his team into the AL Wild Card race with home run after home run, great defense behind the plate, and the ability to turn an intentional walk into a sac fly (that was nearly a home run).

Sanchez’s awesomeness is now officially too much for some Yankees fans to take. On Tuesday night, when the Yankees were facing the Los Angeles Dodgers, Gary Sanchez went yard again for the 14th time this season. It was in the eighth inning off of Dodgers reliever Jesse Chavez, and the ball sailed swiftly into the stands in left field.

When it got there, the ball was caught by a Yankees fan. The transference of Sanchez’s awesomeness, combined with the inherent awesomeness of catching a Sanchez home run, caused him to lose his mind.

To that fan, in that moment, there was no better way to celebrate than shouting as loud as he could and pouring his beer all over his head.

That guy was maybe one step away from tearing off his shirt, standing on the seats, and shouting “I AM THE FAN KING OF YANKEE STADIUM!” Could you blame him?
