Former NBA player Fernandez attacked in Lithuania

Former NBA player Rudy Fernandez, who now plays for Real Madrid, was allegedly assaulted by two fans while boarding a team bus in Lithuania on Thursday, multiple media outlets reported.

European basketball authorities said Friday they plan to investigate the incident.

The incident occurred after Real Madrid's 105-104 overtime win over Zalgiris Kaunas.

According to reports, Fernandez was struck on the shoulder and neck by two assailants and fell to the ground.

Fernandez apparently was not seriously injured.

Fernandez played four seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers, and last season he averaged 8.6 points in 31 games for the Blazers.
