Florida LB Morrison arrested again
University of Florida linebacker Antonio Morrison was arrested for the second time in five weeks Sunday morning, the latest arrest for harassing a canine officer and resisting arrest, according to ESPN's Gator Nation.
Gators head coach Will Muschamp announced Morrison has been suspended indefinitely and will miss at least the first two games of the upcoming season, CollegeFootballTalk.com reported.
"I'm extremely disappointed in Antonio Morrison's decision making," Muschamp said in the statement.
Police responded to a suspicious incident and disturbance call at a Gainesville hotel next to a nightclub Sunday at 3:43 a.m., according to an Alachua County Sheriff Office report.
While investigating a vehicle related to the call, police say Morrison -- one of several men walking by in the area -- approached the patrol car and started barking at the officer's police dog through the open window.
The officer told Morrison to wait in front of his patrol car and he resisted when the officer tried to handcuff him. Two other officers helped detain Morrison, according to the police report.
Morrison told the officers he barked at the dog because the dog barked at him first. He was booked into the Alachua County Jail at 4:15 a.m.
Florida coach Will Muschamp said last week that he had not decided how he would discipline Morrison for his June 16 arrest for battery after he punched a nightclub bouncer because he was not given a discounted rate for admission.
If Morrison meets certain conditions within six months, the battery charge will be dismissed.
Morrison, a sophomore, expects to be the Gators' starting middle linebacker this year.
