Duke's Thomas settles jewelry suit

Former Duke basketball player Lance Thomas settled a lawsuit with a jeweler over a $67,800 debt on a transaction made in 2009.

"We have reached a settlement. I cannot comment further," said Mike Bowers, the attorney for Raefello and Company, in an email to the Raleigh News & Observer.

Thomas won a national championship in 2010, beating Butler, as a senior just a few months after the December 2009 purchase. He allegedly made a down payment of $30,000 and agreed to pay the sum of the balance within 15 days.
