Duke's Kelly out indefinitely with foot injury

Duke senior forward Ryan Kelly was selected the Atlantic Coast Conference player of the week Monday.

It might be awhile before he's in the running for another honor.

Coach Mike Krzyzewski announced Wednesday night that Kelly is out indefinitely due to a right foot injury he sustained Tuesday in the top-ranked Blue Devils' 68-40 rout of Clemson at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

"We feel very badly for Ryan," Krzyzewski said in a statement. "He is playing the best basketball of his career, and this is a tough setback for him."

Kelly, who is averaging 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game this season, scored 12 points in the first half against the Tigers before sitting out the remainder of the game. Krzyzewski said Kelly was hurt late in the half.

Last week, in wins over Davidson and Wake Forest, Kelly averaged 20 points while hitting 11 of 17 shots from the floor, including eight of 11 3-point attempts.

Junior forward Josh Hairston figures to start in Kelly's place. He's averaging just 1.7 points and 2.1 rebounds.

Duke (15-0, 2-0 ACC) plays host to Georgia Tech (10-4, 0-2) on Thursday before traveling to play 20th-ranked North Carolina State (13-2, 2-0) on Saturday.
