Dream 82, Sky 71

The Chicago Sky's losing skid reached eight as Sancho Lyttle scored a game-high 24 points to lead Atlanta to an 82-71 WNBA victory over Chicago on Wednesday night at Philips Arena.

The Dream, playing without WNBA leading scorer Angel McCoughtry, beat the Sky (8-12) for the second time in five days.

Sylvia Fowles scored 22 points and became the team's all-time career scoring leader with 2,115 points. Swin Cash had 19 points and Shay Murphy added 10 off the bench.

Joining Lyttle in double figures was Tiffany Hayes (18), Armintie Price (14) and Lindsey Harding (13). The Dream shot 28-of-53 from the field (52.8 percent).

McCoughtry, who scored 25 points in an 82-76 victory last Friday at Chicago, was sidelined for personal reasons, according to the team. She participated in a pre-game ceremony honoring the Atlanta's Olympic participants.

Sky guard Epiphanny Prince was in the lineup despite tweaking her right ankle on Tuesday. She sat out eight games with a foot injury earlier this season.

The Dream (10-11) led 22-19 after one quarter then temporarily blew the game open in the second, outscoring the Sky 26-12 behind Lyttle's nine points for a 48-31 halftime lead.

Chicago rallied in the third as Fowles scored nine points and trimmed the deficit to eight at 61-53 by quarter's end. The Sky surge continued in the first 4:19 of the fourth quarter as they battled to within three points at 69-66 following a Ticha Penicheiro running layup.

But Chicago got no closer as it missed eight shots and committed three turnovers the rest of the way. In the same span, Hayes hit a jumper and the Dream connected on 11-of-13 free throws to put the game away.

Fowles had seven first half points to tie Candice Dupree's record of 2,100 points and went ahead on a free throw with 7:23 left in the third quarter.

Chicago, which has now lost 12 of its last 13 games, resumes a three-game road trip on Friday at Tulsa while Atlanta travels to Washington.
