Cowboys to wear rare blue jerseys vs. Raiders
The Dallas Cowboys will wear their blue jerseys at home against the Oakland Raiders on Thanksgiving for the first time since they called their home the Cotton Bowl.
The Cowboys, in recent years, have sported throwback uniforms on Thanksgiving, with white helmets and white-and-blue jerseys.
An NFL rule requires teams to use only one helmet all year because of the league's enhanced awareness on concussions, so the Cowboys have opted to pair their silver helmets with their standard blue jerseys.
The Cowboys (6-5) have traditionally worn their white jerseys at home. For the game, the Raiders (4-7) will wear their white jerseys.
The uniforms Dallas will wear Thursday are the solid blue the team occasionally wears on the road. DallasCowboys.com says the blue jerseys haven't been worn at home since Dallas left the Cotton Bowl in 1971.
Dallas is one of the few NFL teams to wear white at home. Former longtime general manager Tex Schramm wanted home fans to see varying color patterns from visiting teams.
