Chargers offensive lineman plays through bug bite to his eye, still dominates
We’ve seen some bizarre injuries in our day, and we even had a quarterback miss part of a game on Sunday because of a busted knee brace.
But the setback endured by San Diego Chargers offensive guard D.J. Fluker is one of the more strange and impressive feats we’ve heard of. Oh sure, teammate Philip Rivers, who once played through a torn ACL, might scoff. But in no way are we discounting what happened to Fluker on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, even as big a man as he is.
Take a look:
Agent @DerykGilmore sent me this picture of #Chargers OL DJ Fluker from post-game. Yikes! Solid work with one eye. pic.twitter.com/dCg1QFBfqb

Ouch! We don’t know when in the game Fluker suffered the eye bite, but that is nothing to shoo away. Consider, too, how dominant the Chargers were on the ground as Melvin Gordon rushed for 196 yards. And Fluker played every offensive snap in the game.
The early buzz (we couldn’t help ourselves) is that Fluker should be fine next week. But it’s just too bad that the “probable” designation has been removed from injury reports because we would love to see how the Chargers worded that one.
