Carson Palmer goes over 300 yards for 33rd time
Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer overcame a slow start Monday night and surpassed 300 passing yards for the 33rd time in his career. Palmer completed 24 of 37 throws for 304 yards, including a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns, in an 18-17 comeback win over the Chargers.
He also ran three times for 30 yards after not rushing for more than 9 yards in any game last season. In fact, Palmer, 34, never had run for 30 yards in any career game. He did lose a fumble on a blindside hit from linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu.
Palmer scrambled to buy time on his first scoring pass, a 5-yarder to running back Stepfan Taylor with 12:30 remaining. Palmer then led a 91-yard touchdown drive to put Arizona ahead for good, capping it with a 13-yard slip screen to rookie wideout John Brown.
Palmer targeted Michael Floyd a team-high seven times and connected only once with Larry Fitzgerald. Palmer will try to get Fitzgerald more involved when Arizona visits the Giants in Week 2.
