Cardinals release RB Wells

The Arizona Cardinals released running back Beanie Wells on Monday.

Wells first announced the move on Twitter and was later confirmed by the team, according to NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk.

"Just been informed that I'll be released today," Wells wrote. "Would like to thank the Cardinals organization for give me a chance to live out my Dreams."

The team also let go of running back Fozzy Whittaker.

Wells fell down the depth chart last year and ended up with 88 carries for 234 yards. He ran for 1,047 yards with 10 touchdowns in 2011.
