Cam Newton runs over the Chiefs defense and then brings back the dab

Since 2015 was a lot more fun than 2016 has been for the Carolina Panthers, it makes sense why quarterback Cam Newton would go retro on Sunday.

It looked exactly like 2015 when Newton plowed forward for a 4-yard touchdown run, then held up his hands to call everyone to attention before bringing back the dab celebration.

The run itself was vintage Newton. He went forward, was hit at about the 5, and the Chiefs could not bring him down. He just kept plowing forward until he was in the end zone.

The dab was unexpected. Newton said this summer he was moving on to something else. It became a popular topic of conversation last season as the Panthers went 15-1 and Newton was winning an MVP award. And since that season went a lot better than this season has, so far, Newton probably wanted to rekindle some good feelings.

Too bad for Newton the rest of the game didn’t remain fun. The Panthers blew a big lead and lost to the Chiefs 20-17 on the last play of the game. So the dab might go right back in retirement.
