Bynum 'still rehabbing' but Varejao cleared for Cavs

Free agent newcomer Andrew Bynum continues to rehab from right knee surgery, the Cleveland Cavaliers announced Tuesday.

Bynum signed a two-year deal worth up to $24 million on July 18. He never suited up for the Philadelphia 76ers, who acquired the 7-footer from the Los Angeles Lakers in the multi-team trade that sent Dwight Howard from Orlando and included Andre Iguodala, who spent last season in Denver.

"Bynum continues to progress in his rehabilitation process," the Cavaliers said in a statement. "There is no timetable set for his return to full basketball contact and activity."

Anderson Varejao was cleared for basketball activities. Varejao was diagnosed with a blood clot.

Rookie Anthony Bennett, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, was also cleared for all physical activites at the outset of training camp.
