Browns rookie Mingo ruled out

Cleveland Browns rookie linebacker Barkevious Mingo has been ruled out from playing Sunday's season opener against the Miami Dolphins.

Although Mingo has practiced on a limited basis this week, Browns coach Rob Chudzinski said Friday that the No. 6 overall draft pick will not play because of the bruised lung he sustained during the preseason.

Mingo was injured during the Aug. 15 preseason game against the Detroit Lions. He experienced shortness of breath and spit up blood, and spent two nights in a hospital.

How he suffered the injury remains a mystery. He was not hit hard on the chest nor did he break a rib.
