Boston's Boychuk avoids supplemental discpline
A review of Boston defenseman Johnny Boychuk's physical check to Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews will not draw supplemental discipline.
Toews sat out the third period with an upper-body injury after taking a hard hit to the head area on a check from Boychuk midway through the second period. Toews wasn't a heavy contributor on the scoresheet until Game 4, but began making a tangible difference in the 6-5 win at Boston last week.
Coach Joel Quenneville said the Blackhawks wouldn't know when Toews might be ready to play until he had a day to be diagnosed. Toews has a history of concussions, though the team didn't specify his injury beyond the "upper body" designation.
"Yeah, you don't worry about that too much. Hoss (Marian Hossa) has given us some great minutes the last couple games, and Johnny has been playing great lately, too," said Patrick Kane. "You know, for me I don't think about that too much, just try to play my game. Don't think about the outside distractions or pressure on me or whatever it may be. You're in this situation, there's going to be a lot of pressure on you. It's the Stanley Cup Final."
