Bobby Ryan has had some big moments for the Senators in these playoffs, and he added another one to his highlight reel Tuesday night.

Seconds after Oscar Lindberg gave the Rangers a 4-0 lead late in the second period, Ryan channeled his inner Brian Boyle and set up Jean-Gabriel Pageau with a flawless no-look, behind-the-back pass to give the Senators a sliver of hope heading into the third period.

It was a timely goal for the Senators and a big one for Ryan, who hasn’t done much against the Rangers after having a renaissance series against the Bruins.

But it ultimately meant nothing in the end as the Rangers went on to win 4-1, while Ryan was forced to leave the game in the third period after taking an Erik Karlsson slap shot off the leg.

Senators head coach Guy Boucher didn’t offer an update on Ryan’s status after the game — ditto for Zack Smith, who was injured in the first period — but it would be a tough blow if he is forced to miss any time. Despite being a non-factor in the first two games, Ryan is still tied for the team lead in scoring with eight points in nine games.
