Blue Jackets' Atkinson agrees to extension

The Columbus Blue Jackets and winger Cam Atkinson agreed on a two-year, $2.3 million contract extension, the Columbus Dispatch reported.

Atkinson, 23, has eight goals and eight assists in 34 games this season. He is in his second season with Columbus after being taken in the sixth round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

"Cam is a highly skilled and exciting player who continues to evolve in all aspects of his game," Columbus general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said in a statement.
