Bears' Briggs out 4-6 weeks

Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs is expected to miss four to six weeks with a shoulder injury suffered in Sunday's loss to the Washington Redskins, according to NFL.com.

The injury will not require surgery. Khaseem Greene and Blake Costanzo will compete for snaps in Briggs' absence. Greene is a fourth-round pick out of Rutgers who will see time next to fellow rookie Jon Bostic.

Briggs' injury is the latest in a string of setbacks for the Bears' defense. Fellow linebacker D.J. Williams was lost to a season-ending torn left pectoral muscle last week, and defensive tackles Henry Melton and Nate Collins are out for the year with knee injuries.
