Astros option Wallace

The Houston Astros optioned Brett Wallace to Triple-A Oklahoma City, after the struggling first baseman batted .042 in 24 at-bats.

The former 13th overall pick will be replaced on the roster by Brandon Laird, who started hot for RedHawks, batting .353 with two homers in 12 games.

Left-handed reliever Xavier Cedeno was also designated for assignment. He has allowed 11 runs -- eight earned -- in 6 1/3 innings this season.
