Astros' Maxwell goes on concussion DL

The Houston Astros placed outfielder Justin Maxwell on the seven-day concussion disabled list and recalled outfielder-infielder Jimmy Paredes from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday.

Maxwell fell hard while making a diving catch in right field last week in Minute Maid Park during a game against the St. Louis Cardinals and has experienced persistent headaches and post-concussion symptoms.

The 29-year-old Maxwell is hitting .235 with one home run and six RBI in 28 games this season for the Astros. He had returned after missing May and part of June with a non-displaced fracture in his left hand, which was hit by a pitch.

Peredes returns to Houston after playing in 31 games for the Astros earlier this season, hitting .190 with one home run and seven RBIs in 84 at-bats.
