Army 77, Lafayette 54

WEST POINT, N.Y. -- Senior forward Ella Ellis scored a game-high 23 points, leading a hot-shooting Army squad to a 77-54 victory over Lafayette in a Patriot League game Wednesday at Christl Arena.

Ellis made 6 of 10 field-goal attempts, 3 of 6 from 3-point range and 8 of 10 free throws for the Black Knights (8-9, 1-1 Patriot), who had lost three in a row.

Army shot 58.1 percent from the field and made 7 of 13 from beyond the arc. Freshman guard Dylan Cox scored 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Freshman swingman Kyle Wilson also scored in double figures, coming off the bench to post 11 points.

Lafayette, which had won three in a row, shot 36 percent and made just 5 of 23 from 3-point range. The Leopards (8-11, 1-1) were led by sophomore forward Dan Trist, who finished with 16 points and six rebounds. Senior guard Tony Johnson added 11 points and three steals.

Army used a 12-0 run to grab an early advantage and never looked back, leading by as many as 17 points in the first half before taking a 35-25 lead into the locker room at the break.
