Alex Oliveira Steps in to Face Donald Cerrone in UFC Fight Night 83 Main Event

It's going to be a battle of the Cowboys.

Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone gets a new opponent for the UFC Fight Night 83 main event. Alex “Cowboy” Oliveira has stepped up on short notice to face Cerrone on Feb. 21 at the Consol Engergy Center in Pittsburgh.

Cerrone was originally slated to face Tim Means in his welterweight debut, but Means was forced off the fight card after being notified of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation.

Oliveira (14-2-1, 1 NC) made his UFC debut in March and fought four times in 2015. He’s currently riding a three-fight winning streak and is coming off of a knockout win over Piotr Hallmann in his last outing on Nov. 7.

Cerrone (28-7, 1 NC) makes his transition to the welterweight division after a decade as a lightweight. He was defeated by champion Rafael dos Anjos in his last outing on Dec. 19 and hopes to make a run at the 170-pound belt.

The event marks the second time the fight promotion has hosted an event in Pittsburgh, and the first time it has been to the “Steel City” since 2011.
