Agent: Oden, Heat may talk

The agent for former No. 1 draft pick Greg Oden indicated Friday that the NBA champion Miami Heat have expressed interest in the free-agent center, FoxSportsFlorida.com reported.

Oden, drafted by the Portland Trailblazers out of Ohio State after his freshman season in 2007, has been plagued by knee problems in his brief career and hasn't played in the league since December 2009.

The Heat are in need of front-line help and, considering Oden's injury history, taking a shot on him could be risk-reward. Oden, 25, has been working out and says his knees are healed from microfracture surgery.

"The Heat need some size, that's not a secret," Oden's agent, Mike Conley, said. "Whether it's in a backup role or whatever, he could help them. I know they're interested in him and he's interested in them."

In his final, abbreviated season with Portland, Oden averaged 11.1 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.3 blocked shots playing 23.9 minutes per game.

Several other teams have shown interested in Oden, a former college teammate of Memphis Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley Jr.
