Adam Wainwright turns in excellent performance Friday

Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright turned in an excellent performance Friday against the Rockies.

Wainwright gave up one run on six hits over eight innings. He struck out eight and did not issue a walk during the contest. Wainwright gave up his only run in the third inning. After a leadoff single, Wainwright managed to strike out the next two batters. With two outs, Nolan Arenado belted a double to left, scoring the run from first. The run didn’t seem to have an impact on Wainwright, as he tossed five scoreless innings to end the outing.

With the win, Wainwright improved to 18-9. He’ll take on the Brewers in his next start.
