A's continue to make moves, acquire OF Craig Gentry from Rangers

The Oakland A’s and Texas Rangers engaged in a rare intra-division trade Tuesday that sent outfielder Craig Gentry and right-hander Josh Lindblom to Oakland for outfield prospect Michael Choice and second base prospect Chris Bostick, sources told Yahoo Sports.

After losing center fielder Chris Young to free agency, and with the potential departure of Coco Crisp after the 2014 season, Oakland buttressed its depth with Gentry, a speedy center fielder whose greatest prowess is with his glove. Lindblom, who has pitched as a starter and out of the bullpen, could add to the A’s great depth in both spots.

In Choice, the Rangers acquired a former first-round pick whose power has waned over the last two seasons but still hit .302/.390/.445 at Triple-A Sacramento last year. Bostick, 20, was a 44th-round pick out of Aquinas Institute in 2011 who had a breakout season at Class A Beloit last year.

In the last 36 hours, Oakland has signed starter Scott Kazmir to a two-year, $22 million deal and traded for closer Jim Johnson. And they may not be done. Sources said the A’s are working on a number of other trades.
