Ball Don't Lie - NBA

Thank you, The Commission! This is exactly the type of stuff I want to watch on a lazy Friday afternoon while eating nuked leftovers. Can you imagine the length of suspensions the league would hand out if this happened in today's NBA? Bill Laimbeer would be dragged out back behind David Stern's shed and shot. The trigger takedown starts around the :45 mark.

How did the Celtics not get free throws for that?

Somebody needed to knock that punk out. To take down a player by his neck and then rake his face on the way down, if I were Bird they'd have had to take me to jail for beating they daylights out of his worthless self.
Then, like #1 MC said, how do they not get foul shots? He was in the act of shooting!

I am amazed at how accurate that throw was to hit Bill. I mean, he had a crowd around him and still hit him dead on. Byrd is the man! Magic still rules, though.

Looked to me like bird undercut rodman's legs when he went up and laimbeer awkwardly tried to get instant retribution.

I think Bird forfeited the free throws on the foul because he was ejected...
But like the announcer says, you NEVER saw Bird like that, ever. Not even in Space Jam

NOW! thats old school, and how the game was played back in the day. If you were termed a superstar...you earned it and had the scars to prove it.

I think Lambeer was going to fall on top of Bird and Rodman and so was trying to soften his fall. (longtime Piston fan and therefore Laimbeer apologist)
If this had happened a few years later Rodman would no doubt have kicked Bird in the head when they were down. He hadn't evolved into his crazy true self yet.
They didn't shoot free throws becuase all this happened after the shot clock had expired - you can hear the announcers say that at one point.

first, idiots, is you listened, it was a 24 second violation. how that's possible, i don't know, because it would have meant they didn't call a foul, or the take down happened after the shot clock ran out.
second, did someone really just say "bryd"?

The Pistons weren't talented - Just thugs and idiots lead by a creature called Rodman and anchored by an abuser like Thomas. In a fight Bird would have killed Laimbeer and Rodman. They had to cheap shot to get any shots at all in!
Phil Jackson sucks because he actually encouraged Rodman.

It looked like a total accident to me as well and I used to hate Lambeer growing up. I think Bird gave Lambeer a nice punch to the face though. That might have been a little more amazing than the hit from the ball he threw at him.

Pistons belonged in Jail. There team was like a team from county prison.
Sally was the only big man with any talent. The rest were out there to hurt someone.
The Pistons found out fast though not to mess with the country boy..Larry Legend.
