Ball Don't Lie - NBA

A look around the league and the web that covers it. It's also important to note that the rotation order and starting nods aren't always listed in order of importance. That's for you, dear reader, to figure out.

C: NBA.com. Darius Songaila has been suspended one-game for getting tangled with LeBron. This is so wrong.
PF: Sports Biz. Darren Rovell interviews the world's No. 1 sports agent, David Falk.
SF: SLAM Online. Shoals' latest dose of Quotemonger hilarity. (The Dirk translation is gold.)
SG: 3 Shades of Blue. "Memphis may actually benefit from the turmoil they created in trading Pau Gasol."
PG: From Deep. Did Sam Mitchell's tee time mess up the Raptors' Game 5 performance? Nunyo.
6th: The Big Lead. Screengrabs of Kendrick Perkins flashing Paul Pierce's now notorious "gang sign."
7th: AZ Republic. This comment made me laugh: Imagine if Dallas signed D'antoni and Phoenix signed Avery.
8th: The Sporting Blog. Shoals again: "Let’s not get carried away with the 'D.C. is better sans Arenas' chatter."
9th: Jones on the NBA. The "In Pau We Trust" t-shirt. No, I have no idea where you can buy this, Lakers fans.
10th: Hardwood Paroxysm. The Wolves are expected to unveil a new logo and new uniforms next year. HP has an idea what they might look like.

Can someone please explain how Haywood, Stevenson don't get suspended for their flagrant fouls. James gets a retroactive flagrant but the Wiz don't get the benefit of the foul shots and possession and he isn't suspended for that flagrant. Garnett isn't suspended for pushing a ref. The Hawks aren't suspended for leaving the bench. However, Songaila gets a B.S. technical for incidental contact then he is suspended by the league too. Totally arbitrary and B.S. all around. Frustrating......

Songaila getting suspended for this is the funniest thing I've seen all day. I hope LeBron apologizes on behalf of the NBA.
I guess they felt OK suspending him because he's a role player.
How they can possibly suspend Songaila for this incidental contact, and not suspend Jason Kidd for trying to decapitate Pargo is beyond me.

    Skeets,
    I agree with you 100%.
Songaila's suspension for what Lebron James did ,,, to himself ... in this 'incident' is absolutely absurd, comical and brings the entire NBA disciplinary process into total disrepute.
Almost everyday that goes by now ... the NBA sleeps closer and closer into the bizarro world of the WWE ... with its 'fraudulent' referee assignments (from game-to-game), erratic enforcement of 'The Rules of the Game' and patently ludicrous player suspension decisions.
Songaila did nothing wrong ... except, of course, fail to prevent LBJ from taking Darius' hand and hitting himself in his own face with it, while trying to untangible his own arm in the process.
    Sublime & ridiculous.

I forgot about the Pargo foul, that was the worst of the bunch. Trying to slam someones head into the floor because you are frustrated by someone consistently making you look old and washed up.

WHAT A JOKE! Yes, NBA front office, let's do everything we can to get your cash cow closer to the NBA Finals! Has anyone else noticed how LeBron, or "god", goes into his little "Flop Dance" now everytime an opposing player barely touches him? First he tried to get Haywood suspended and finally he gets Darius tossed for critical game 6. All "god" talks about is how dirty the Wizards play and talk trash, when the Cavs have some of the biggest grabbers, elbow throwers, and floppers in the league...not to mention their cute little LeBron wannabees Gibson, et al who talk nothing but trash! LeBron..I mean "god" and his NBA front office backers are ruining this league. If they advance here's one loyal fan who will not watch, just like I did NOT watch last year.

If Damon Jones makes a “menacing gesture” from the bench does he still get fined even though he is Damon Jones and therefore can not be menacing, tough, scary or any other synonym?

Meh. Songaila probably shouldn't have been suspended, but it wasn't an accident. Wizards were reportedly told by the league prior to the game (after Stevenson's forearm to the head) that another shot to his head would be an automatic 1 game suspension. They made their bed, now they're sleeping in it.

Let's see K.Garrnett gets nothing for pushing a ref...but Songaila gets suspended for putting a hand on James' face while tangled up with him.. The NBA should be shot for orchestrating such a classless show.If they want only certain teams to win why not say so. Star power is one thing...but hey this is a joke.

The way this should have been handled was the way it actually was handled: Z popped Songaila in the face a couple of quarters later (on an LBJ drive no less). No need for further action.

The Wizards fit well in Washington DC. A team full of thugs and hacks playing in a city full of thugs and hacks (in Congress). Scum team for a scum city, and that's saying a lot comparing it with Cleveland.

I saw what happened about songalia that accidentally slap lebron on the cheek . it's unintentional . he just untangled his arm , and accidentally hit lebron on the face . he should not had suspended . it's unfair . when i watched game 6 , there's no excitement . sure lebron does not feel pressure so he scored a lot of points . i don't think cavs will win if it's a one point lead again by the wizards . just give the ball to lebron and he will miss the winning shot again . he is actually a cry baby and overrated. yeah ,,, he scored a lot and became the scoring champion, coz he have the ball all the time . and shoot so may times. but look at his percentage shots though . a lot of misses ..i am from cleveland but i am not a cavs fan because i don't like lebron. i wish he go to new york so he can wear his yankee hat there and not in cleveland. he have no loyalty here . he just want to play hard so he can demand more salary .
